Gibson Has Record Breaking Night Against Clarks Summit

Alvernia Gets 7-2 Win

Reading, Pa. (September 15, 2021) - Alvernia University (1-3) scored early and often as Kyla Gibson broke the single-game goal record and Alvernia took a 7-2 win over Clarks Summit University (1-3) on Wednesday evening in non-conference Women's Soccer action at Alvernia.

Gibson recorded four goals on the game, breaking the previous single game record of three goals in a game - which occurred four times throughout the history of Alvernia Women's Soccer. Gibson also added an assist on her historic night.

The win also marked Head Coach Seamus O'Connor's first win at Alvernia, and his 100th career win overall.

Gibson put Alvernia on the board around the five minute mark to put the Golden Wolves on the board.

Just about four minutes later, Gibson connected with Eden Jahn on a cross that Jahn was able to send to the back of the net to put Alvernia up 2-0.

Less than two minutes later, Gibson recorded her second goal of the night to put Alvernia up 3-0. She would have two goals and an assist before ten minutes passed in the game.

In the 22nd minute, Gibson tied the single-game goal record with her third goal of the game to put Alvernia up 4-0.

In the 38th minute, Olivia Ruch joined in on the scoring after sending a corner kick directly into net to give Alvernia the 5-0 advantage going into the half.

Ruch then added her second of the night off an impressive goal that snuck out of reach of the goalie and just below the crossbar to put Alvernia up 6-0.

After subbing out mid-way through the first half, Gibson returned to the game and scored her record setting goal after getting by the goalie and scoring with just over 25 minutes remaining in the game.

Clarks Summit would score two goals in the final 15 minutes as Alvernia came away with the 7-2 win.

Gibson led Alvernia's offense with her four goals and an assist.

Brynn Bock and Lily Sankey split time in net for one save.
