Immaculata, Pa. (September 18, 2021)- Women's Soccer picked up its second straight with the Golden Wolves (2-3) taking a 1-0 win on the road over Immaculata (0-5) in non-conference action.
The game would start out slow as neither team's defense was willing to give an inch. Alvernia earned two corner kicks halfway through the first half, but was unable to find the back of the net. A late shot for Immaculata would sail far-right and miss just wide of the net. The two teams went into the second half, 0-0.
The Golden Wolves applied the pressure early in the second, with
Jenna Wentling just missing on a shot that was wide right. Alvernia would not be denied, as
Madison Whary netted the first goal of the contest off of an assist from
Kyla Gibson. Alvernia fended off Immaculata's late-game push as the Golden Wolves earned the win, 1-0.
Brynn Bock and
Lily Sankey split time in net, combining for five saves.
The Golden Wolves return to action Tuesday at home against Goucher.
