Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2021) - Alvernia University (3-3) improved to .500 overall and 1-0 on the season after picking up a 2-0 win over Eastern University (1-5) on Saturday night in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action at Alvernia.

After being locked up at 0-0 for nearly 27 minutes, Alvernia's Shannon Schiverea broke the scoreless tie after finding the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Alvernia held Eastern without a shot in the fourth quarter while adding an insurance goal of its own. A ball sent in by Madison Potthoff found Victoria Strasser with an empty look at net and Strasser was able to tap it in to put Alvernia up 2-0.

The Golden Wolves held on for the 2-0 win to open up their conference schedule with a notch in the win column.

Hannah Wolfe picked up her third win of the year in net for Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves return to action on Tuesday hosting Stockton.
