Selinsgrove, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2021) - Alvernia University (5-1) scored two unanswered goals as the Golden Wolves completed a second half comeback in a 2-1 win over Susquehanna University (3-4) on Tuesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Susquehanna.
The River Hawks took just under six minutes to get on the board after Joe Armstrong found the back of the net.
Alvernia's
Braden Kreider and
Ryan Cogill both attempted shots in the first half, but neither were able to convert.
Alvernia went into the half trailing the River Hawks 1-0.
The Golden Wolves came out firing in the second half as they took five shots in the first 18 minutes.
In the 67th minute, Alvernia's pressure would pay off as Cogill evened it at 1-1 with a goal coming off an assist from
Trent Rider.
The Golden Wolves then took the 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute as
Michael Peirce crossed a perfect ball into the box setting up
Cameron Rowe to head in the go-ahead goal.
Susquehanna did not get a shot off the rest of the way as Alvernia improved to 5-1 overall with the 2-1 win.
Ben Solsky faced four shots in net recording one save.
