Scranton, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2021) – Marywood University (4-3) scored with just under two minutes remaining in regulation to break a 0-0 tie and take a 1-0 win over Alvernia University (3-4) in non-conference women's soccer action at Marywood on Saturday afternoon.
Alvernia's best opportunity came in the 51
st minute when Alvernia got off two shots over a 30 second span.
Kyla Gibson fired off a shot that was blocked by the Pacers. 30 seconds later, Gibson got off a second shot that Marywood's defense saved.
Alvernia's
Brynn Bock faced a barrage of shots by the Pacers. Leading up to the 89
th minute, Bock faced 23 shots, making ten saves in net for Alvernia. Then, in the 89
th minute after making a save just seconds earlier, Bock could not stop the Pacers any longer as Marywood broke the 0-0 tie with a goal to go up 1-0.
Alvernia would have just over a minute to make something happen. The Golden Wolves would secure a corner kick in the final minute of the contest, but were unable to get a shot off to tie the match. Marywood would go on and win the game 1-0.
Bock finished the game with a career-high 10 saves.
Alvernia returns to action this Thursday on the road at Cabrini.
