Radnor Pa. (Sept. 29, 2021) – Alvernia University (6-2) shutout Cabrini University (5-4-1) in a 2-0 win over the Cavaliers in non-conference men's soccer action at Cabrini on Wednesday night.
Following a strong offensive push by Alvernia,
Ryan Cogill took the first shot of the contest in the 4
th minute, which soared just high of the net.
Neither team was able to gain ground as both defenses were able to disrupt any offensive push.
The Golden Wolves secured a pair of corner kicks over the 19
th and 20
th minutes of the contest, but Alvernia was able to get off just one shot - an off-target attempt by
Ryan Kuster - during the corner attempts to keep the game locked at 0-0.
Ten minutes later, a Cabrini foul set up a penalty kick for Kuster in the 30
th minute. Kuster slipped the ball past the keeper to give Alvernia the 1-0 advantage. The Golden Wolves ended the half with a 1-0 lead.
Alvernia's first shot of the second half was successful as Alvernia added to its lead with a
Braden Kreider goal to the top of the net in the 65
th minute.
Alvernia's defense held firm the rest of the way, limiting Cabrini to just one shot over the final 35 minutes as Alvernia went on to secure the 2-0 win.

Ben Solsky picked up his fourth shutout of the season while making three saves in net.
The Golden Wolves return to action Saturday as they host Widener University.
