Reading, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2021)- Haverford College (2-0) held Alvernia University (0-1) to ten shots and just one goal in a 2-1 win over the Golden Wolves on Friday evening at Alvernia in non-conference field hockey action.
 
Haverford opened the scoring late in the 2nd minute when Olivia Ahart netted the first goal of the contest.
 
Haverford would keep up the pressure in the second period with a goal by Dalia Bercow assisted by Delaney Snowden. Alvernia would attempt to flip momentum late in the period with three shots, but none were able to find the back of the net.

Alvernia would score its only goal of the contest off of a penalty shot, with Brooke Spezialetti opening up the scoring for the Golden Wolves.
 
Momentum would shift back and forth with neither team gaining a strong grasp. With a minute left in the contest, Haverford's defense would prove to be too much as they caused the final turnover that would seal Alvernia's first loss of the year, 2-1.

Lexi Boettcher would rack up seven saves on the evening.
 
Alvernia returns to action on Monday with a road contest against Juniata College.
