Huntingdon, Pa. (September 6, 2021) - After being locked in a 0-0 tie for over 52 minutes, Alvernia University (1-1) netted a goal in the 53rd minute to break the tie and take the 1-0 win over Juniata College (0-2) on Monday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Juniata.

The Golden Wolves dominated ball control the entire game, not allowing a shot on goal over the 60 minutes of action. But, Juniata's defense stood strong, fending off five shots on goal by Alvernia leading up to the 53rd minute.

Midway through the 53rd minute, Alvernia was awarded a corner, which was taken by Felicia Getz. Getz inserted the corner to Brooke Spezialetti, positioned at the top of the circle. Spezialleti took the ball and dribbled by Juniata defenders before firing a shot into the back of the net to give Alvernia the 1-0 lead.

Alvernia would hold off any Juniata attempts to tie it up for the final seven minutes for the 1-0 win.

Hannah Wolfe picked up the shutout in net for Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves return to the field on Wednesday with a home game against Gettysburg.
