Men's Soccer Blanks Albright, 3-0

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2022) - Alvernia University (8-2-4, 2-1-1) picked up its second MAC Commonwealth win of the season with a 3-0 win over Albright College (1-9-2. 0-4) on Tuesday night at Alvernia.

Alvernia scored two goals in the first half and added a third in the 84th minute in the shutout win.

Connor Kraycik put Alvernia on the board with his fifth goal of the season off an assist from Justin Fetrow. Seven minutes later, a Nate Stoltzfus goal off a corner by Eli Klinger doubled Alvernia's lead to 2-0 with just under 30 minutes remaining in the first half.

The Lions were held to just three shots in the first half, but none were on target as Alvernia took the 2-0 lead into the break.

Alvernia nearly took a 3-0 lead in the 69th minute when Matthew Kerr stepped up to the line to take a penalty kick, but Albright keeper Chris Denholm was able to make the save. 

The Golden Wolves tacked on its third of the night with a Gabe Wunderlich goal on an assist from Nick Denlinger.

Albright had a look in the final minute, but Alvernia keeper Evan Solley made the save to preserve the shutout. 

Solley finished the night with four saves in net for his seventh shutout of the year.
