York, Pa (Oct. 15, 2022) - York College of Pennsylvania (8-3-3,3-0-1) took down Alvernia University (3-8-3,1-3-0) 3-1 in MAC Commonwealth women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at York. 

York got out to an early 1-0 lead in the third minute when Sabrina McGuigan found Erin Snyder who headed it into the back of the net. 

Alvernia's Gabriella Fontana fired a shot on goal in the 11th minute of play that was saved by York's Jacqueline Keogh. 

York tallied a second goal with eight minutes left in the half when Keziah Boyce whipped a corner kick into the box that found the foot of Ashlynn Weger to make it 2-0. 

The Spartans netted a third a minute later when Ashley Hudak crossed the ball in to Erin Snyder who headed it to Mackenzie D'Anthony to extend the lead to 3-0.

Haley Dougherty fired a shot with three minutes left in the half that sailed wide as York took a 3-0 lead into the half. 

The Golden Wolves pulled one back in the 59th minute when Abigail Sargent whipped in a cross from the left side and found Dougherty who controlled the ball and fired a shot past Keogh to cut the York lead to 3-1. 

Alvernia continued to apply pressure with Dougherty firing two more shots that sailed wide and Madison Rotkiske had an attempt sneak over the crossbar. York's defense kept Alvernia from scoring again en route to a 3-1 victory. 

Brynn Bock finished with five saves for Alvernia. 

The Golden Wolves were led by Dougherty with the lone goal, she also tallied four of Alvernia's seven shots. Fontana and Macy McDonough both tallied shots that were on target. 

Alvernia is back in action on Tuesday when they host Eastern University at 7:00 PM.
