Golden Wolves and Eagles Play to 0-0 Draw

Reading, Pa (Oct. 18, 2022) - Alvernia University (3-8-4, 1-3-2) and Eastern University (1-9-5, 0-4-2) played to a 0-0 draw in MAC Commonwealth women's soccer action on Tuesday night at Alvernia.

Eastern got to work early in the first half and tallied four shots in the first 15 minutes of play, all of which came from different Eastern players.

Macy McDonough and Madison Rotkiske both fired shots for the Golden Wolves in the first half but both were off target. Haley Doughety ripped a shot from outside the box that snuck over the crossbar in the final minute of the first half as Alvernia and Eastern went into halftime tied 0-0.

The Golden Wolves applied pressure right out of the gate in the second half when Gabriella Fontana hit the crossbar off a corner just 30 seconds into the half.

Alvernia fired five more shots in the first 15 minutes of the second half with McDonough tallying three and Dougherty fired two, both of which were saved by Eastern keeper Brooke Moskey to keep the score tied at zero.

The Golden Wolves continued to pepper Eastern's net in the 69th minute when Heather Perna fired a shot that was saved, and Fontana and Dougherty followed her up with shots of their own.

Fontana fired her fifth shot of the contest in the 83rd minute that was saved by Moskey, and McDonough fired another that flew just over the bar.

Alvernia keeper Brynn Bock saved two Eastern shots in the final 15 minutes to keep the Eagles off the board. McDonough fired her fifth and sixth shots of the game in the final three minutes but was unable to find the back of the net.

Bock finished with three saves and tallied her fourth shutout of the season.

The Golden Wolves were led by McDonough with six shots, and Dougherty finished with five - including two on target. Fontana added three more, and Perna tallied two shots, both of which were on frame. Alvernia outshot Eastern 17-8, with 14 coming in the second half.

Alvernia is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Clarks Summit to take on the Defenders. Gametime is set for 3:00 PM.
