Alvernia University Athletics

Reading, Pa. (Nov 11, 2022) - Alvernia University (3-1-1) fell to Anna Maria College (1-3-1) 4-2, in non- conference women's ice hockey action Friday night at BodyZone. 

Anna Maria got on the board just one minute and 45 seconds into the first period when Abigail Vigliotte found Grace Dodge who put it into the back of the net to give the Amcats a 1-0 lead. 

The Golden Wolves fired seven shots on goal in the first half but could not slip one past the Anna Maria goalie. 

Alvernia evened the score with just under six minutes left in the second period when Abby Reisinger and Alex Robertson assisted Lexi Hooper to level the score at 1-1 heading into the final intermission. 

The Amcats took a 2-1 lead just under five minutes into the third period when Olympia Myers assisted Riley Cote. 

The Golden Wolves leveled the score two minutes later on a power play when Amber Steinhilpert found Olivia Gilida who fired a shot into the back of the net to make it a 2-2 game. 

Anna Maria took the lead with eight minutes left in the contest when Sara Sammons scored thanks to assists from Morgan Daly and Shayla MacDonald to give the Amcats a 3-2 lead late in the third period. 

MacDonald sealed the game when she scored an empty net goal with 46 seconds left to extend the Anna Maria lead to 4-2. 

Mandy Kaminsky finished with 24 saves for the Golden Wolves in goal. 

The Golden Wolves were led by Gilida and Hooper who both had goals. Robertson, Steinhilpert and Reisinger all added assists for Alvernia. 

Alvernia is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they wrap up the weekend series with Anna Maria at BodyZone at 2:00 PM.
