Gaston Punches Ticket to National Championship with Sixth Place Finish at Regionals

Lock Haven, Pa. (Nov. 12, 2022) - Women's Cross Country graduate student Cera Gaston took sixth overall at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional to secure a trip to the NCAA Division III National Championship. 

As a top-ten finisher not on a qualifying team, Caston punched her ticket to Lansing, Michigan. She is the first women's cross country student-athlete from Alvernia to qualify for a national championship. 

Gaston ran the 6K course in a time of 22:12.8 to lead the Golden Wolves to an 18th place finish. Gaston's top-35 performance also earned her all-region honors. 

Katelyn Schoener also earned all-region honors with a 30th place time of 23:04.2, shaving 17 seconds off her previous 6K best. 

Finishing in third for Alvernia and 137th overall was Kaitlyn Snyder with a time of 26:13.5, and Mackenzie St. Pierre took fourth for Alvernia and 159th overall with a time of 27:48.4. St. Pierre's time also marked a PR for the sophomore. 

Melana Musgrove finished in 173rd with a time of 29:37.9, and Caitlin Sternberg rounded things out with a 175th place finish and time of 29:56.7.

Gaston will represent Alvernia at the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday, November 19 in Lansing, Michigan.
