Golden Wolves Shutout Dutchmen, 4-0, for Series Sweep

Hershey, Pa. (Nov. 6, 2022) - Alvernia University (3-0-1, 2-0) completed the series sweep over Lebanon Valley College (1-3, 0-2) with a 4-0 win on the road on Saturday night at Lebanon Valley in UCHC women's ice hockey action.

After a goal in the final seconds of the first period, Alvernia's offense really came alive in the third period with three goals in just four minutes to propel Alvernia to the 4-0 win.

The Dutchmen outshot Alvernia 14-8 in the first period, but it was the Golden Wolves that had the final say in the opening frame. With just nine seconds left in the period, Sydney Bradley sent in a shot on a power play and found the back of the net to go up 1-0.

Lebanon Valley again outshot Alvernia in the second period, 8-6. But, the Alvernia defense, behind goalie Julia Beaven, kept the Dutchmen off the board.

Entering the final frame, Alvernia came out of the break firing. The Golden Wolves added to its lead within the first minutes of the half off an Alex Robertson goal to make it a 2-0 contest.

About two minutes later, Shae Hudec made it a 3-0 game off her second goal of the season.

The Golden Wolves kept up the pressure when Amber Steinhilpert notched her second of the season to give Alvernia the 4-0 lead with just over 17 minutes to play in the final period.

Lebanon Valley would get just six shots in on net in the final minutes of the period as Beaven was able to keep the Dutchmen off the board for the 4-0 shutout.

Beaven finished with 28 saves in the shutout win. Eight different Golden Wolves scored a point for Alvernia.
