Alvernia Blanks King's, 5-0

Reisinger Nets Hat Trick with Three Goal Performance

Pittston, Pa. (Feb. 18, 2022) - Alvernia University (10-12-1, 8-9-1) put up five goals while shutting out King's College (2-21, 2-17) on Friday afternoon in a 5-0 win over the Monarchs in UCHC and MAC women's ice hockey action at King's.

The Golden Wolves bookended the game with two goals in both the first and third periods, and added a single goal in the second for the 5-0 win over the Monarchs - their first over King's in Alvernia's three year history.

The Golden Wolves got on the board first after 5:13 of action with Sydney Bradley found the back of the net off passes from Abby Reisinger and Mackenzie Jackson.

Just under three minutes later - with 10 seconds left on a King's power play - Reisinger found herself on a one-on-one breakaway. She outskated her defender and fired a shot into the upper left corner of the net to give Alvernia the 2-0 lead.

After closing out the first period with the 2-0 lead, Alvernia added its third of the afternoon - and second of the game for Reisinger - when #15 found the back of the net for the second time with a tip-in goal off the pass of Bradley.

Alvernia held the 3-0 lead going into the final frame and made it a 4-0 game with a goal from Alex Robertson off the assists of Amber Steinhilpert and Jasmine Hughes with just over 15 minutes left of action.

Reisinger then sealed the hat trick and gave Alvernia the 5-0 lead with her second shorthanded goal of the night with just over two minutes to play.

Reisinger finished with three goals and an assist. Julia Beaven picked up the shutout win in net with 30 saves. Robertson led Alvernia's faceoff with 12 wins.

The Golden Wolves return to action tomorrow night hosting the Monarchs at 7:00 PM.
