Reading, Pa. (March 30, 2022) - #6 York College (6-2, 1-0) spoiled Alvernia University's (1-8, 0-1) 2022 MAC Commonwealth Men's Lacrosse opener with a 25-4 win over the Golden Wolves on Wednesday evening at Alvernia.

The sixth-ranked Spartans had 16 different players score in the 25-4 win over Alvernia in the first meeting between the two schools as MAC Commonwealth opponents. 

The Spartans jumped out to a 10-0 lead after just over a quarter of action before Alvernia was able to get on the board with a goal by Kenneth Howely. 

York added four more before Louis Ferrera made it a 14-2 game with a goal at the 6:49 mark of the second quarter. But, the Spartans went on another run to close out the second quarter and open up the third quarter as they added nine to their lead to go up 23-2.

Peter Capasso netted his third of the season off a Howley assist to make it 23-3 with 3:09 to play in the first.

York scored just twice more the rest of the way, and Alvernia closed out the scoring with a goal from Cade Campbell for the 25-4 final. 

Howley led Alvernia with one goal and one assist. 

Alvernia returns to action at 7:00 PM on Saturday at #18 Stevenson University.
