St. Davids, Pa. (April 13, 2022) - Alvernia University (4-4, 2-3) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action and went on to take a 6-3 match win over Eastern University (4-3, 2-2) in MAC Commonwealth men's tennis action on Wednesday at Eastern.

After Alvernia dropped #1 doubles by a close 8-6 decision, Alvernia took the final two doubles matches by 8-3 and 8-4 decision to head into singles action up one, 2-1.

Alvernia dropped #1 singles 6-3, 6-1, and #6 singles, 8-4. But, Alvernia picked up wins in the other four singles matches to keep the Eagles at bay.

Lucas Berger won his #2 singles match 6-1, 6-0, and Drew Heinzelmann took #3 singles 6-4, 6-1.

Jayden Lewis edged out a 6-3, 6-4 win at #4 singles, and Thomas Figurelli picked up Alvernia's final point of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #5 singles. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Tuesday hosting Albright.
