York, Pa. (April 30, 2022) - Alvernia University (7-5, 4-3) secured a postseason berth with an 8-1 win over York College (3-8, 3-4) on Saturday afternoon in the Men's Tennis regular season finale at York College.

With the win over the Spartans, Alvernia improved to a 4-3 record in MAC Commonwealth play and secured a fourth seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship. The Golden Wolves will head to top-seeded Lebanon Valley College on Tuesday for the semifinal match.

Alvernia jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play with the duos of Kevin Angeles and Michael Brophy, and Drew Heinzelmann and Thomas Figurelli edging out wins on tiebreaker sets. Lucas Berger and Jayden Lewis picked up a more comfortable win at #2 doubles with an 8-1 decision.

Alvernia then took all but one match in singles play to secure the 8-1 decision.

Alvernia will head to Lebanon Valley on Tuesday for its semifinal match with the Dutchmen.
