York, Pa. (May 3, 2022) - #3 Alvernia University (11-5) dropped a 5-1 decision to #2 York College (9-4) in the 2022 MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis semifinal match on Tuesday at York. 

Alvernia and York split doubles play, with the team of Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson taking a narrow 8-7 (7-4) win at #1 doubles. Alvernia dropped #2 doubles, 8-3, and forfeited its third doubles match to trail 2-1 going into singles action. 

Number one, two, and three singles all went unfinished as York was able to secure the 5-1 match win with straight-set wins at number four and five singles, and a forfeit at number six singles.

Alvernia finishes its season at 11-5 while the Spartans will take on top-seeded Lebanon Valley in the MAC Commonwealth Championship on Saturday.
