Alvernia Scores Three Second Half Goals to Take Down Cedar Crest

Reading, Pa (September 13, 2022) - Alvernia University (1-2-2) netted three unanswered goals in the second half of play to take down Cedar Crest College (2-2-1) 5-2 in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday night at Alvernia.

Cedar Crest opened up the scoring with a Taylor Wolf penalty kick just six minutes into the game to take an early 1-0 lead.

The Golden Wolves responded just under eight minutes later when Haley Dougherty found Gianna Ordanoff who slotted her shot past the keeper to even the score at one.

The Falcons bounced back with Tayor Wolf scoring her second goal of the game courtesy of another penalty kick to give Cedar Crest the 2-1 lead 18 minutes into the game.

Alvernia responded yet again, this time when Gabriella Fontana whipped in a corner kick that found the head of Olivia Malone who put it past the Falcon's keeper to tie the game at 2-2.

Alvernia would begin to dominate the game, firing off seven shots in the final 15 minutes of the first half, five of them coming off the foot of Haley Dougherty

The Golden Wolves out shot the Falcons 16-6 in the first half.

The Golden Wolves rattled off four shots in the first five minutes of the second half before Haley Dougherty found the back of the net thanks to an assist from Madison Rotkiske to give Alvernia its first lead of the game, 3-2.

Alvernia would score again three minutes later when Dougherty tallied her second assist of the contest when she found Macy McDonough to extend the Golden Wolves lead to 4-2.

Alvernia extended its lead to three when Rotkiske played a ball to Ordanff who slid it past the keeper to bring the Golden Wolves lead to 5-2 with just over 20 minutes to play.

Alvernia held Cedar Crest to just one shot the rest of the way - an attempt that was blocked - as Alvernia came away with the 5-2 win.

Brynn Bock got the win in goal for the Golden Wolves. Bock ended the night with six saves.

The Golden Wolves were led by Ordanoff with two goals and Dougherty scored a goal and added two assists on the night. Rotkiske added two assists for Alvernia and Fontana added another.

The Golden Wolves are back in action when they travel to Stockton University on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
