Towson, Md. (Sept. 21, 2022) - Alvernia University (2-3-2) put up three goals in the second half en route to a 4-0 shutout win over Goucher College (5-1) on Wednesday night in non-conference women's soccer action at Goucher.

Prior to tonight, Goucher allowed just one goal all season. Alvernia put up four goals on the night while handing the Gophers their first loss of the season.

Both sides had opportunities early, but neither were able to convert. 

Alvernia changed that in the 23rd minute when Gianna Ordanoff was awarded a penalty kick. Ordanoff converted to put Alvernia on the board. The Golden Wolves maintained the 1-0 lead into the half.

Alvernia opened the second half with another penalty kick opportunity in the 51st minute. This time Haley Dougherty stepped up to the line and also converted her opportunity to put Alvernia up 2-0.

Just six minutes later, Dougherty scored her second of the night to put Alvernia up 3-0.

The Golden Wolves kept their foot on the pedal with Kalyn Keen scoring Alvernia's fourth of the night in the 61st minute.

The Gophers had two shots on goal late, but Alvernia keeper Katelyn Dreibelbis made two saves to keep the Gophers off the board as Alvernia came away with the 4-0 win.

Brynn Bock and Dreibelbis combined for six saves in net for the shutout.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday as the Golden Wolves host Marywood.
