Reading, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2022) - Alvernia University (2-4-2) nearly completed a comeback, but fell to Marywood University (2-5-1) 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Alvernia.

The Pacers led 3-1 with just under 15 minutes to play, but Alvernia got within one on a Macy McDonough goal in the 77th minute. However, the Golden Wolves did not get a shot on goal the rest of the game as Marywood came away with the 3-2 win.

Marywood got on the board in the 7th minute off a header goal via a corner kick.

15 minutes later, Marywood extended its lead to 2-0 on a goal from Caroline Walters.

The Golden Wolves got within one in the 35th minute when Haley Dougherty sent in a corner kick that Olivia Malone was able to send into net to put Alvernia on the board and cut Marywood's lead in half, 2-1.

Alvernia got a shot on goal in the 44th minute, but could not convert as Marywood held the 2-1 lead into the half.

Marywood sent in two shots on goal early in the second half, but Alvernia was able to keep the Pacers from tacking on anymore until the 76th minute when they extended their lead to 3-1.

Alvernia responded nearly right away with McDonough scoring her goal just seconds later off the ensuing kickoff to get Alvernia back within one, 3-2.

The Golden Wolves could not get another shot on goal off as Marywood took the 3-2 win. 

Brynn Bock finished with five saves in net. 

Alvernia is back in action on Thursday hosting Cabrini at 7:00 PM.
