Reading, Pa (Sept. 24, 2022) - Alvernia University (6-2,1-1) fell to York College (6-2,2-0) 2-0 in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action Saturday afternoon at Alvernia. 

York opened up the scoring just seven minutes into the game when Carrie Shuey found Connie Harburda to put the Spartans up 1-0 early in the first quarter. 

A scoreless second quarter was highlighted by Alvernia outshooting York 5-3 with Alyssa Krady and Brianna Burkholder both adding two shots each. 

The Golden Wolves struggled to get shots off with York holding Alvernia to just one shot in the third quarter. York's Libby Wild made a defensive save to deny Abbie Buck's shot and keep the Spartans in the lead by one. 

York made it 2-0 when Kat Knox scored with just over ten minutes left to play to secure the win for the Spartans. 

The Golden Wolves were led by Burkholder who tallied three shots while Buck and Krady added two apiece. Lexi Boettcher ended the game with three saves in goal. 

Alvernia is back in action Wednesday when they travel to Rowan University. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
