Williams Leads Golden Wolves at Golden Oaks Shootout

Fleetwood, Pa (October 1, 2023) -Shawn Williams fired a four over 76 to pace Alvernia University to an eighth place finish on day one of the Arcadia Golden Oaks Shootout at Golden Oaks Golf Club Sunday.

Williams posted a four over 40 on the front nine with pars on two, three and six and birdied the par four seventh. Williams made the turn and recorded a par on ten and back to back birdies on 11 and 12 but back to back bogeys kept Williams even par through the first five holes on the back nine. Williams then tallied two pars and a birdie on the par four 17th to post an even par, 36 on the back nine and post a four over 76 and is in a tie for 17th place.

Jackson Hoovler posted a four over 40 on the front nine and started by posting par on the first five holes. Hoovler then ripped off three straight birdies on six, seven and eight but a 10 on the par three ninth saw him post a 40 on the front. Hoovler bounced back and birdied the par four tenth and tallied pars on 11,12 and 13 but three bogeys in the final five holes saw Hoovler post a two over 38 on the back and a six over 78 and is in a tie for 25th place.

Jack Lynam posted the third best score for the Golden Wolves on day one and posted a five over 41 on the front nine. Lynam posted three pars on the front nine and birdied the par three fourth and the par five eighth but two bogeys and two doubles saw him post a five over 41 on the front. Lynam responded by posting a par on the tenth, he birdied the par five 11th and then ripped off pars in five of the final seven holes to post a two over, 38 and finish with a seven over, 79. Lyman is currently in a tie for 32nd place.

Matt Davies posted the fourth best score for Alvernia and recorded a 81 on day one. Davies posted three pars and a birdie on the par five fifth but a few bogeys saw him post a six over, 42 on the front. Davies bounced back and tallied six pars on the back nine to post a three over 39 on the back. Davies posted a nine over, 81 on day one and is currently in a tie for 40th place.

Andrew Bauer rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves who posted an 83 on day one. Bauer posted five pars on the front nine, but four bogeys saw Bauer post a four over 40 on the front. Bauer then posted three pars on the back nine but a few bogeys and double bogeys saw Bauer post a 43 on the back nine. Bauer posted an 11 over 83 on day one and is currently in a tie for 45th.

The Golden Wolves are back at Golden Oaks tomorrow for day two of the Golden Oaks Shootout hosted by Arcadia.
