Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2023) - King's College (5-5-2) scored three goals in four minutes to open the second half en route to a 5-1 win over Alvernia University (1-10-2) on Tuesday night in non-conference women's soccer action at King's.

The two teams played a relatively even first half, with neither able to find the back of the net. The Monarchs outshot Alvernia 5-2, but Golden Wolves and Monarch were even with one shot on goal each in the first 45 minutes.

The Monarchs came out of the half with fresh life and quickly drew a penalty kick in the 48th minute. They converted the kick to get on the board, and that goal sparked a quick run over the next three minutes. King's tacked on two more goals - one in the 50th minute and one in the 52nd minute - to quickly jump out to a 3-0 lead.

King's wasn't done yet, adding its fourth goal in the 59th minute and taking a 5-0 lead with just under five minutes to play.

Alvernia had opportunities in the 64th, 77th, and 80th minute to get on the board, but the Golden Wolves could not convert.

A goal from Alvernia's Macy McDonough in the 88th minute ended the Monarch's shutout bid, but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves dropped the 5-1 decision.

Brynn Bock finished with four saves in net for Alvernia. Kalyn Keen led Alvernia with two shots on net.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday hosting York College.
