Reading, Pa (October 14, 2023) - Alvernia University (1-11-2, 0-2-1) fell to York College (9-5, 3-0) 2-0 in a MAC Commonwealth women's soccer matchup Saturday evening at Alvernia. 

The Spartans offense started off hot early in the first half and sent four shots toward the Alvernia goal and sent one on target but Alvernia keeper Brynn Bock saved it to keep the game locked at zero after 15 minutes of play. 

York found the back of the net in the 29th minute of the first half when Meg Kalthof netted an unassisted goal to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes to play in the half. 

The Golden Wolves fired one shot on the Spartan net in the final 15 minutes of the half when Kayln Keen fired a shot but it went wide as York took a 1-0 lead into the half. 

The Spartans extended their lead to two just seven minutes into the second half when Kalthof netted her second unassisted goal of the night to put York up 2-0. 

The Golden Wolves fired two shots at the York goal in the final 30 minutes of play with Keen firing a shot on goal that was saved and Dougherty fired a shot wide as the Spartans secured the 2-0 victory. 

Bock tallied six saves in net for Alvernia. 

Dougherty and Keen led the Golden Wolves with two shots apiece and both tallied shots on target and Macy McDonough fired a shot on goal as well. 

Alvernia is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to cross town rival Albright College to take on the Lions at 7:00 PM.
