Reading, Pa. (Oct. 17, 2023) - A two-goal second half powered Alvernia University () to a 2-0 win over Albright College in MAC Commonwealth women's soccer action on Tuesday night at Albright. 

After an uneventful first half on both sides, Alvernia came out of the break firing. The Golden Wolves peppered shots at net in the opening minutes of the second half, before breaking through in the 60th minute. Kalyn Keen beat a defender and found Haley Dougherty, who was crashing the net. Dougherty chipped one in past the keeper and just inside the right post. 

The Golden Wolves continued to fire shots at the Lions net and keeper, but they held off Alvernia for about 20 more minutes until Alvernia doubled-up on its lead. This time, in the 81st minute, Gianna Ordanoff froze up three defenders before firing a rocket inside the left post and past the Albright keeper to make it a 2-0 game.

Alvernia's defense, behind keeper Brynn Bock, preserved the shutout the rest of the way as Alvernia came away with the 2-0 win.

The Golden Wolves out-shot Albright 11-4 in the second half, including six shots on goal.

Bock finished with three saves in net en route to the 2-0 shutout win.

The win is the first over the Lions since 2015. Alvernia tied Albright in a scoreless draw last season.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at Messiah.
