Hoovler and Williams Lead Alvernia at Golden Oaks Shootout

Fleetwood, Pa (October 2, 2023) - Alvernia University finished in a tie for eighth place after day two of the Golden Oaks Shootout hosted by Arcadia at Golden Oaks Golf Club Monday afternoon.

Jackson Hoovler and Shawn Williams posted low scores of 74 for Alvernia with Jack Lyman recording a 76 and Matt Davies posted an 86.

Hoovler posted an even par 36 on the front nine with birdies on number two and the par five fifth. Hoovler also tallied five pars on the front nine. Hoovler started his back nine with a birdie on the par four tenth and recorded pars on the final five holes but three straight bogeys saw him post a two over, 38 on the back and a two over 74 overall which put him in a tie for 15th place.

Williams posted the best finish for the Golden Wolves with his two over, 74 putting him in a tie for 11th after two rounds. Williams recorded three birdies on the front and four pars to card a one under, 35. Williams posted four bogeys on the back nine, one birdie and four pars to card a three over 39 and post a 74 overall.

Lynam tallied the third best score for the Golden Wolves with a four over 76 and finished in tie for 28th. Lynam recorded birdies on the par five fifth and eighth and recorded six pars on the front to post a one under 35 on the front nine. Lyman posted bogeys on three of the first five holes on the back nine and posted just four pars to card a five over, 41 on the back and a four over 76.

Matt Davies rounded out the counting scores for the Golden Wolves with an 86 and finished in a tie for 49th place. Davies posted two pars on the front nine, but bogeys and double bogeys saw him card a 46 on the front nine. Davies bounced back and posted four pars and a birdie on the par five 18th to card a 40 on the back and finish with an 86.

Alvernia is back in action next Monday when they travel to Bulle Rock GC for the Battle of Bulle Rock hosted by Arcadia.
