Reading, Pa (October 25, 2023) - A late second half goal powered Hood College (4-10-3, 1-3-2) to a 1-0 victory over Alvernia University (2-13-2, 1-4-1) in a MAC Commonwealth women's soccer matchup Wednesday afternoon at Alvernia. 

The Blazers were in control offensively in the first 20 minutes of the half as Hood sent four shots at the Alvernia goal with three going wide and Alvernia's Brynn Bock saved the only shot on goal to keep the game tied at zero. 

The Golden Wolves offense started to get going in the final 20 minutes of the half with Haley Dougherty firing three shots at the Hood goal with one going on net and two being blocked. Madison Rotkiske also fired a shot in the first half but it was saved by Hood's Gabi Dolan to keep the game locked at zero heading into the half. 

The Golden Wolves threatened with just under 20 minutes left in the second half when Megan Reuter whipped a cross in off a corner kick that found the head of Macy McDonough who headed the ball on target but Hood's Dolan was there to punch it away. The ball then fell to the feet of Alvernia's Kalyn Keen who fired her shot over the crossbar. 

Hood grabbed the lead in the 76th minute when Katy Przybocki connected with Alli House who headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes left in the half. 

The Blazers fended off two Alvernia shots in the final 15 minutes of the game to secure the 1-0 victory over the Golden Wolves. Gianna Ordanoff fired a shot that was saved for the Golden Wolves. 

Bock tallied four saves in net for the Golden Wolves. 

Alvernia was led by Dougherty who fired four shots, Ordanoff tallied two with one going on target and both McDonough and Rotkiske fired shots on target. 

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday when they host Widener in the regular season finale at 12:00 PM.
