Golden Wolves Close Out Fall Season at NCAA Fall Preview

Boulder City, NV (October 31, 2023) - Jackson Hoovler fired an even par 72 to lead Alvernia University on day three of the NCAA Fall Preview on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

The Golden Wolves finished in 18th place with a three day total of 937 (329/304/304). Alvernia matches its team score from round two with a 304 on the final day of competition.

Hoovler carded the best score for the Golden Wolves in round three with an even par 72. Hoovler finished the tournament in a tie for 80th place with a three day total of 240 (87/81/72). Hoovler started his day on the 18th hole, He pared the 18th, carded bogey on the first hole but bounced back with a par on the second and a birdie on the par four third to get back to even par. Hoovler then ripped off four straight pars and carded a birdie on the eighth hole and get to one under par after his first nine holes. Hoovler then tallied a birdie on the par four ninth to get to two under par and post a two under, 34 on the front nine. He then carded four pars in a row before a double bogey six saw him drop back to even par through 15 holes. Hoovler bounced back with a birdie on the 15th hole and carded par on the 17th but a bogey on the 16th saw him post a two over 38 on the back nine and an even par 72 overall.

Jack Lynam recorded the second best round of the day for the Golden Wolves with a three over 75 and posted the best finish for Alvernia with a three day total of 277 (79/73/75) and finished in a tie for 43rd place. Lynam started his day on the 16th hole and went par, birdie, par on the 16th, 17th and 18th to quickly jump to one under par heading to number one. Lynam posted four pars in his next six holes but two bogeys saw him fall to one over after his first nine holes of the day. Lynam responded with three straight pars to close out the front nine and post a two over 38 on the front and was one over through 12 holes. Lynam then carded back to back bogeys on the tenth and 11th but bounced back with two pars and a birdie on his next three holes but a bogey on his 18th hole of the day saw him card a one over 37 on the back nine and a three over, 75 overall.

Andrew Bauer tallied a five over 77 on day three of the tournament and finished in 83rd place with a three day total of 243 (86/80/77). Bauer started on the 18th hole where he carded a triple bogey but responded with two pars and a birdie in his next three holes to get back to two over par through four holes. Bauer tallied three pars in his next five holes but back to back bogeys saw him fall to four over par through his first nine holes of the day. Bauer carded a par on the ninth to post a one over 37 on the front nine and continued his par run with three on 10,11 and 12 and a birdie on 13 saw him drop down to three over par through 14 holes. Bauer tallied two pars in the final four holes but two bogeys saw him fall to five over par and post a five over, 77 on the day.

Shawn Williams carded an eight over 80 in round three and finished in 76th place with a three day total of 235 (77/78/80). Williams started on the 17th hole and carded a bogey and a double in his first three holes but he bounced back with a birdie on two and three pars but two bogeys saw him drop to four over through his first nine holes. Williams tallied a birdie and four pars on his final nine holes of the day but numerous bogeys and a double saw him card a 38 on the front and a 42 on the back to finish with an 80.

Matthew Gagliardi rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves with a day three score of 84 and recorded a three day total of 244 (87/73/84) and finished in a tie for 84th place. Gagliardi started his round on the 17th where he carded an opening hole birdie to quickly get to one under par but that did not last long as he carded a two bogeys and a double in his next three holes. Gagliardi bounced back with four pars in his next five holes but a double on the sixth hole saw him go five over through his first 18 holes. He then carded a bogey and a quad on the ninth hole to post a ten over, 46 on the front nine. Gagliardi carded four pars and a birdie in his final nine holes to post a two over 38 on the back nine and finish with an 84.

The Fall Preview marks the end of the fall season for the Golden Wolves.
