Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Nov. 11, 2023) - Alvernia University's (1-9, 1-8) season came to a close on Saturday with a 50-0 loss to King's (8-2, 7-2) on Saturday in MAC football action at King's.

The Monarchs got on the board on their first drive with a 32-yard field goal to cap off a five play, 50 yard drive and made it a 9-0 game midway through the first quarter on a 23-yard touchdown pass. The Monarchs kept it rolling with three more touchdown passes in the first half to take a 30-0 lead into the half.

The Monarchs then added three more touchdowns in the second half for a 50-0 final.

Colin Payne finished with 71 yards on 16 completions and 27 rushing yards. Joseph Perkins finished with five receptions for 22 yards and Thompson had three receptions for 18 yards.

On defense, Elijah Carr surpassed the 100 tackle mark for the season with 10 tackles on the day. He finished the 2023 season with 104 total tackles and is the first Alvernia player to surpass 100 tackles in a season. Jamel Fleming led Alvernia with 11 tackles on the game. Pasquale Savarese finished with five tackles and a half sack to become the career leader in sacks in his final game with seven on his career. 

Alvernia finishes the 2023 season 1-9 overall.
