Alvernia Downs York, 24-14, In Regular Season Finale

York, Pa. (Feb. 10, 2023) - #25 Alvernia University defeated York College 24-14 on Friday night at York in Alvernia's final dual of the regular wrestling season.

The Golden Wolves dropped its first two bouts of the night as Keito Shaw lost a 6-3 decision to #6 Jared Kuhns. James King then dropped his bout to #9 Dalton Rohrbaugh on a 20-5 technical fall.

Alvernia began its work back from the 8-0 deficit with Avery Leonard picking up four points for the Golden Wolves with an 11-2 decision. Chance Babb then gave Alvernia the one point lead, 10-8, on a fall in 1:49 by Chance Babb.

The Golden Wolves then picked up six more points with back-to-back decisions by Jason Rezac and Robert Lawlor.

#2 Matthew Lackman then picked up a 14-0 decision over Jared Townsend. Gavin Hollingsworth then added a major decision of his own with a 17-7 win at 184 pounds.

Alvernia dropped the final two bouts by decision, but Alvernia was able to build a strong enough lead to hold off the Spartans and come away with the 24-14 win.

Alvernia is back in action on February 24-25 at NCAA Regionals, which are back at York College.
