Golden Wolves Down Aggies, 35-9

Doylestown, Pa. (February 8th, 2023) - #17/#23 Alvernia University (15-6) defeated Delaware Valley University (9-8) 35-9 on Wednesday night in a MAC men's wrestling dual at Delaware Valley.

The Golden Wolves got out to an early 3-0 lead when Keito Shaw defeated Shane Holefelder 7-3 in the 125 pound bout to start the dual. The Aggies responded with a 12-6 major decision in the 133 pound bout with Ryan Kelly defeating Anthony Portillo to tie it at three.

Alvernia's Avery Leonard responded with a 17-2 technical fall over Taylor Weaver in the 141 pound bout and Chance Babb followed Leonard up with a pin over Andre Henene in 2:55 to put the Golden Wolves up 14-3 after four bouts.

Robert Lawlor downed Zachary Zuckerman in the 157 lbs match with a 16-1 technical fall and Jason Rezac defeated Darrale Barrett 7-2 in the 165 pound bout to extend Alvernia's lead to 22-3.

The Golden Wolves did not look back as Matthew Lackman pinned Luke Moore in 1:25 at 174 lbs and Gavin Hollingsworth defeated Jaden Roberts by a score of 15-5 in the 184 lbs bout to make it 32-3 Golden Wolves.

Isaac Kassis defeated Isaiah Johnson in the 197 pound bout by a score of 5-2 to extend the lead to 35-3. Delaware Valley's Austin Williams received a forfeit in the heavyweight bout to score the first points for the Aggies in seven bouts as the match ended with a score of 35-9 in favor of the Golden Wolves.

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Friday night when they travel to York College to take on the Spartans at 7:00 PM in their final dual of the regular season.
