Golden Wolves Blow by Keystone, 15-5

La Plume, Pa (March 18, 2023) - Alvernia University (4-2) scored five goals in the first quarter in a 15-5 victory over Keystone College (0-3) in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup Saturday afternoon at Keystone. 

Alvernia scored three goals in the first five minutes with Kenny Hawley netting two goals and Colin McFadyen added one as the Golden Wolves took an early 3-0 lead. Alvernia scored two more goals in the first quarter when Jack Keenan assisted Jamri Toppin and McFadyen to give the Golden Wolves a 5-0 lead after one quarter of play. 

Kenny Howley tallied the first goal of the second stanza when he found the back of the net with just under ten minutes to go in the half, putting the Golden Wolves up 6-0. 

Keystone got on the board with under four minutes when Izaiah Simon scored an unassisted goal to make it 6-1 Alvernia. 

The Golden Wolves responded with a goal just 20 seconds later when Ryan Gilman scored an unassisted goal and then scored again with under a minute to go in the half and extend Alvernia's lead to 8-1

The Giants netted one more goal just before the half, making it 8-2 at the half. 

The Golden Wolves scored four of the five goals scored in the third quarter with McFadyen scoring twice, Peter Capasso added one and Kyle Patton netted his first collegiate goal to put Alvernia up 12-2. 

Ryan Smith scored an unassisted goal with under two minutes left in the third to make it 12-3 Golden Wolves. 

The Giants scored two goals in the first three minutes of the final quarter with Smith and AJ Hackenburg finding the back of the net to cut the Alvernia lead to 12-5. 

The Golden Wolves tallied the final three goals of the game with Howley netting two, McFadyen added his fifth goal of the game and Keenan tallied two assists to secure the 15-5 victory over the Giants. 

Dane Sabarese got the win in net for the Golden Wolves and improved to 4-2 on the season. 

McFadyen led Alvernia with five goals and five assists for ten total points, Keenan tallied five assists and Howley netted five goals. Gilman added two goals and Toppin and Patton both had one as well. 

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Wednesday when they host Penn College at 7:00 PM.
