Greyhounds Roll to 21-4 Win Over Golden Wolves

Bethlehem, Pa. (March 18, 2023) - Moravian University (4-3) jumped out to a quick and early lead and never looked back as the Greyhounds took a 21-4 win over Alvernia University (5-2) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Moravian.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead after just over five minutes of action. Alvernia got on the board with a goal from Haleigh Lackner midway through the first quarter, but Alvernia went over 16 minutes before scoring again. The Greyhounds took advantage, scoring six straight to jump out to a 9-1 lead with 8:26 remaining in the first half.

Alvernia stopped the Greyhound run with a goal from Meagan Moky with 6:32 to play in the second half. But, the Golden Wolves were held scoreless the rest of the half as the Greyhounds added three more to take a 12-2 lead into the half.

Moravian continued to roll to open the second half, scoring six goals in the third quarter while holding Alvernia scoreless for the entirety of the quarter.

Moky opened the fourth quarter scoring with a goal off the opening draw of the quarter. Alvernia added one more with 5:53 remaining as Lackner netted her second of the afternoon, but the Greyhounds came away with the 21-4 win.

Moky and Lackner finished with two goals each, and Olivia McCambly added an assist. Moky had three ground balls, and Lackner had two caused turnovers and four draw controls. 

Kasey Fox and Kirsten Lake split time in net for Alvernia, with each making five saves.

Alvernia is back in action on Wednesday hosting Elizabethtown.
