Lackner Scores Career-High 12 Points

Reading, Pa. (April 26, 2023) - Alvernia University (8-7, 2-5) jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back as the Golden Wolves took a 21-5 win over Eastern University (1-13, 0-6) on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

Alvernia's 16-goal margin of victory is the largest margin of victory for the Golden Wolves since Alvernia defeated Sweet Briar College by a 17-0 decision in 2017.

Alvernia jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first two and a half minutes of action as Natalie Frantz and Haleigh Lackner scored for Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves pushed their lead to 6-0 after the first quarter as Lackner added on two more goals, Meagan Moky netted one, and Frantz scored her second of the night.

Olivia McCambly kept things rolling to open the second quarter with a man-up goal off the assist of Frantz in the opening 30 seconds of the quarter.

The Eagles got on the board with a goal just under four minutes into the second quarter, but Alvernia scored three goals in two minutes to jump out to a 10-1 lead. Moky scored her second of the night, while Mackenzie McKinney and Sherrin Smith scored one each.

The Eagles grabbed two quick goals to get within seven, 10-3, as the game hit the midpoint of the second quarter. But, Alvernia had the final say of the half as Lackner and McKinney scored for the Golden Wolves to make it a 12-3 game going into the second half.

Frantz opened the second half much like she started the first half as she scored an early goal to give Alvernia a ten goal lead and turn on the running clock with 13:46 to play in the quarter.

Frantz and Lackner continued to stay hot for Alvernia as Frantz scored one and Lackner added two more over the next four and a half minutes to give Alvernia the 16-3 lead.

The Eagles got one back with 4:44 to go in the third quarter, but Alvernia scored the final two of the third frame with Smith and Lackner netting goals to give Alvernia the 18-4 advantage with 15 minutes to play.

Alvernia scored three more goals in the fourth quarter to build its lead to 17, 21-4. Sophia Ruocco, McCambly, and Hailey Miller each scored for Alvernia. The Eagles scored the final goal of the game, but Alvernia came away with the 21-5 win.

Lackner finished with seven goals and five assists to smash her career-high in points with 12. She also had a game-high eight draw controls and game-high five caused turnovers. Frantz finished with four goals and an assist.
