Reading, Pa. (April 4, 2023) - Alvernia University (6-3, 1-0) opened up its MAC Commonwealth schedule with a decisive 9-0 win over Eastern University (2-3, 0-2) on Tuesday afternoon in women's tennis action at Alvernia. 

Alvernia jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action and cruised to a 9-0 win with six wins at singles.

Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson took an 8-0 win at #1 doubles, and the duos of Jillian Laughman and Rachel Rineer and Elizabeth Danovich and Sarah Mies took 8-1 wins at both #2 and #3 doubles.

Bouchard and Laughman took their singles matches in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0, at #1 and #3 singles, respectively.  Summerson grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win at #2 singles, and Rineer took a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4 singles. Danovich took her #5 match and 6-0, 6-1 and Mies secured the 9-0 shutout with a 6-2, 6-3 win at #6 singles.

The Golden Wolves have off this weekend for the Easter holiday and will return to action on Tuesday at Lebanon Valley.
