Lebanon Valley Takes 12-5 Win Over Alvernia

Annville, Pa. (April 5, 2023) - Lebanon Valley College () outscored Alvernia University () 6-2 in the second half to take a 12-5 win over the Golden Wolves on Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse action at Lebanon Valley. 

The game was locked at 3-3 five minutes into the second quarter, but the Dutchmen scored the final three goals of the half to take a 6-3 lead into the half. Lebanon Valley rode that momentum to open the third quarter, scoring four straight to take a 10-3 lead. Alvernia scored two of the final four goals of the game, but Lebanon Valley came away with the 12-5 win.

After Lebanon Valley's Sydney Zimmerman opened the game with back-to-back goals, Alvernia got on the board with a goal from Olivia McCambly off the assist of Haleigh Lackner.

The Dutchmen closed out the first frame with a late goal to take a 3-1 lead into the second, but Alvernia opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals to even the game up at 3-3. A goal from Natalie Frantz opened up the quarter and got Alvernia within one, 3-2. Alvernia was then awarded a free position a just under two minutes later, and McCambly sent a quick pass over to Lackner who fired on goal to even it up at 3-3. But, Alvernia would be held scoreless the rest of the half.

The Dutchmen then scored two goals in 35 seconds to even the game up and take the lead, 6-5. Lebanon Valley added one more in the final two minutes of the half to take a 6-3 lead into the break.

Alvernia continued to be held out of net throughout the majority of the third quarter while Lebanon Valley added four more onto its lead to take a 10-3 lead. Alvernia got one back on a free position goal with just under two minutes to play in the quarter, but the Dutchmen took a 10-4 lead into the final 15 minutes.

Lebanon Valley pushed its lead to eight, 12-4, with two goals in the fourth quarter. Alvernia scored the final goal of the game on a man-up opportunity from Lackner, but Lebanon Valley came away with the 12-5 win.

Kasey Fox finished with 16 saves in net for Alvernia and grabbed a team-high five ground balls. Lackner finished with four points off of three goals and an assist.

Alvernia has off this weekend before returning to action on Wednesday hosting #8 York College.
