Reading, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2023) - Alvernia University's (1-2) picked up its first win of the season in decisive fashion as the Golden Wolves defeated Penn State Berks (0-1) 9-0 on Thursday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Berks.

The Golden Wolves jumped out to a fast 3-0 lead as each doubles pairing made quick work of their match. Lily Summerson and Leah Bouchard at #1 singles and Jillian Laughman and Monica Nguyen at #2 doubles did not allow a set. Sarah Mies and Megan Wells won their doubles match 8-1.

Alvernia kept its foot on the gas in singles play as each Alvernia player won their respective match in 2-0 sets. Laughman did not give up a set to lead the Alvernia charge as Alvernia went on to win the match, 9-0. 

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday, September 30th at DeSales.
