Lebanon Valley Scores Late to Down Alvernia, 4-0

Lebanon, Pa. (Sept. 27, 2023) - Lebanon Valley College (2-2-2) scored four goals in the final 20 minutes to defeat Alvernia University (1-7-1) 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Lebanon Valley.

The game marked the first time since 2009 that the two teams met as non-conference opponents following Lebanon Valley's move to the MAC Freedom prior to the start of this academic year.

The Golden Wolves and Dutchmen were at a scoreless draw through the first half. Alvernia keeper Brynn Bock made seven saves in the first half to keep Lebanon Valley off the board. Alvernia had two looks on goal, but was kept off the board.

Coming into the second half, Alvernia and Lebanon Valley traded shots in the opening 25 minutes of the second frame. But, Lebanon Valley broke through with a goal in the 71st minute to break the 0-0 tie and take a 1-0 lead.

It didn't take long for Lebanon Valley to take a 2-0 lead as Lebanon Valley's Delaynie Reyes beat two Alvernia defenders and snuck a goal inside the left post and Bock in the 75th minute.

The Dutchmen continued to roll with a goal in the 80th minute to take a 3-0 lead. Lebanon Valley's Abrielle Miller got around her defender and fired a shot into the opposite corner that got just by the diving reach of Bock.

Lebanon Valley capped off its run with a goal in the 85th minute to make it a 4-0 game.

Alvernia was held to just one shot on goal in the second half and did not get any shots on goal off during the final 20 minutes of action as Lebanon Valley came away with the 4-0 win.

Bock finished with 13 saves in net for Alvernia. Olivia Swartz accounted for two of Alvernia's three shots on goal to lead Alvernia's offensive efforts.

The Golden Wolves are back in action on Saturday as they open MAC Commonwealth play at Stevenson.
