Lynam Leads Golden Wolves at Vulcan Invite

Rostraver, Pa (September 3, 2023) - Jack Lynam fired scores of 76 and 75 to pace Alvernia University at the Vulcan Invite hosted by California University of Pa on Sunday at Cedarbrook Golf Club.

Teams played 36 holes on day one with Alvernia posting scores of 314 and 307 to finish in 12th place after the first day of play.

Lynam fired a four over, 76 in the first round of competition with a 37 on the front and a 39 on the back. Lynam eagled the par five sixth to put himself under par, but a bogey on the seventh and a double on the ninth saw him finish one over on the front. Lynam posted a 39 on the back and tallied six pars and three bogeys to finish with a 76. Lynam's second round of the day saw him birdie two of the first four holes, but a bogey and a double bogey saw him finish with a two over, 38 on the front. He then birdied two holes on the back nine and tallied four pars to finish with a three over, 75 after the second round of competition. Lynam currently sits in a tie for 23rd place at seven over.

Jackson Hoovler fired a 77 in round one and a 78 in round two for a day one total of 11 over and currently sits in a tie for 48th place. Hoovler tallied one birdie and six pars on the front nine for a one over 37. Hoovler then tallied six pars but a few bogeys and a double saw him post a four over, 40 on the back nine to finish with a 77 in the first round. Hoovler bounced back in the second round of the day and tallied five pars and two birdies on the front nine to post an even 36 on the front nine. Hoovler continued to struggle to figure the back nine out, with two bogeys and two double bogeys to finish with a 42 on the back and a six over, 78.

Shawn Williams tallied the third best score for the Golden Wolves on day one and posted an 81 in round one, but bounced back and recorded a 75 in round two to finish in a tie for 56th. Williams tallied one birdie and four pars on the front nine, but a few bogeys and a double bogey saw him finish with a four over, 40 on the front. Williams then posted a 41 on the back nine for a total of 81 in the first round of competition. Williams started his second round off with two birdies in the first four holes and tallied five pars on the front to finish with an even par 36. Williams recorded six pars and three bogeys on the back nine to fire a three over, 39 to finish with a three over, 75 after the second round.

Matthew Gagliardi fired an 81 in the first round of competition and a 79 in the second round to finish in a tie for 73rd after the first day. Gagliardi recorded five pars on the front nine and finished with a 42 on the front. Gagliardi tallied four pars and a birdied on the back nine to fire a 39 and a nine over, 81. In his second round of the day, Gagliardi tallied three pars and a birdie on the front nine to post a 41. Gagliardi then went birdie, birdie on ten and 11 to give himself some momentum heading into the final stretch. Gagliardi tallied one more birdie on the back nine to fire a 38 and finish with a 79.

Andrew Bauer fired an 80 in the first round of the tournament but a 93 in round two put him in 98th place. Bauer fired six pars on the front nine, but three bogeys saw him post a three over 39. Bauer birdied the par five 12th but a few bogeys saw his back nine end with a six over, 41 and a score of 80 for the first round. Bauer then posted a 46 on the front nine in round two and a 47 on the back nine for a 93.

The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow for round three of the Vulcan Invite at Cedarbrook Golf Club.
