Hoovler, Lyman Lead Alvernia on Day Two of Vulcan Invite

Rostraver, Pa (September 4, 2023) - Alvernia University posted the third best team score of the day to jump up to eighth place on day two of the Vulcan Invite at Cedarbrook Golf Club.

The Golden Wolves posted a 295 on Monday to jump four spots in a Division II dominated field.

Jackson Hoovler led the Golden Wolves in round three with an even par 72. Hoovler started his day on the eight hole and birdied two of his first three holes. Hoovler recorded one bogey on the back nine and tallied seven pars and one birdie to fire a one over, 37 on the back. Hoovler then headed to the front nine where he birdied holes three and four and tallied pars on his final three holes to post an one under, 35 on the front nine. Hoovler finished with a three day total of 227 and finished in a tie for 26th out of 107 competitors.

Jack Lynam tallied the best finish for the Golden Wolves with a three day total of 225 and a t19 finish. Lynam fired a two over, 74 in round three, he posted an even par, 36 on the front nine with birdies on holes one and two and tallied five pars on the front. Lynam tallied one birdie, five pars but three bogeys saw him post a two over, 38 on the back for a final score of 74.

Andrew Bauer fired the second lowest score of the day for Alvernia with an one over 73 in round three. Bauer fired a two under, 34 on the front nine, with birdies on three and four and pars on the other seven holes. Two bogeys on par fives and another on the par four 16th saw Bauer finish with a three over 39 on the back nine. Bauer finished with a three day total of 246 and improved 20 strokes from his second round score of 93.

Shawn Williams fired a four over, 76 on day two of the Vulcan Invite and finished in a tie for 50th place and a three day total of 232. Williams recorded two birdies and five pars on the front nine, but two bogeys saw him post an even par 36 on the front nine. Williams tallied pars on three of the first four holes on the back nine and a birdie on the 18th, but a bogey and a triple saw him card a 40 on the back for a final total of 76.

Matthew Gagliardi rounded out the scores for Alvernia with an 82 in round three and a two-day total of 242. Gagliardi carded a three over, 39 on the front nine with a birdie on the eighth hole and five pars. Gagliardi carded four pars on the back nine but a few bogeys and a triple saw him card a 43 on the back to finish with an 82.

The Golden Wolves are back in action next Monday for the Albright Fall Invite at Schuylkill Country Club.
