Alvernia Falls to Nazareth

Reading, Pa (January 13, 2024) - Alvernia University (8-6-1, 6-5-1) fell to #15 Nazareth University (9-5-1, 9-0-1) 5-1, in a UCHC women's ice hockey matchup Saturday afternoon at BodyZone. 

The Golden Wolves tied the game up at one in the second period but the Golden Flyers recorded three unanswered to secure the 5-1 victory. 

Alvernia dropped to 8-6-1 and 6-5-1 in the UCHC and Nazareth improved to 9-0-1 in the conference and 9-5-1 overall. 

How it Happened
  • Nazareth opened the scoring with just under nine minutes into the first period when Abby Flanagan scored after an assist by Ella Cedrone to make it 1-0 Nazareth. 
  • Alvernia tied things up three minutes into the second period when Sydney Bradley fired the puck into the top corner of the Nazareth net to knot the game at one. Alex Robertson and Julia Franklin both recorded assists on the goal. 
  • Nazareth responded with two goals in under a minute to regain the lead, 3-1 heading into the final intermission. 
  • The Golden Flyers netted two goals in the final period, both were power play goals to secure the 5-1 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

Inside the Box Score Of Note 
  • Alvernia captain Alex Robertson recorded her 100th career game on Saturday. Robertson became the first Alvernia Women's Ice Hockey player to eclipse 100 career games played.
