Alvernia Falls to Manhattanville, 3-0

Purchase, N.Y. (January 26, 2024) - Manhattanville College (7-9-2, 7-4-2) scored a goal in all three periods en route to a 3-0 victory over Alvernia University (9-7-2, 7-6-2) in a UCHC women's ice hockey matchup Friday afternoon at Manhattanville. 

How it Happened 
  • Manhattanville struck first just over eight minutes into the first period when Taylor Willoughby and Virginia Birnie assisted Elizabeth LePage to make it 1-0 early in the first period. 
  • The Golden Wolves fired 14 shots at the Manhattanville net in the final 11 minutes of the period with six going on goal but Franny Gerardi saved all six to preserve the 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission. 
  • The Valiants doubled their lead just 19 seconds into the second period when Charlotte Stanwood found the back of the net thanks to assists from Grace Felicio and Catrina Chinetti to make it 2-0 Valiants. 
  • Manhattanville fired ten more shots in the second period but Alvernia's Julia Beaven saved all six that went on target. 
  • Alvernia recorded 17 shots in the second period and sent seven on goal but Gerardi saved all seven to send the game into the final intermission with the Valiants holding onto a two goal, 2-0 advantage. 
  • The Valiants made it three in the final minute of the game with an empty net goal by Birnie to secure the 3-0 victory over the Golden Wolves.

  • Manhattanville improves to 2-5-1 all-time against Alvernia with the victory. 
  • The loss marks the first loss on the road for the Golden Wolves this season.
