Reading, Pa (October 22, 2024) - Alvernia University (6-9-1, 1-3) dropped a MAC Commonwealth women's soccer matchup to #5 Messiah University (11-1-3, 4-0) 5-0, Tuesday night at Alvernia. 

The Falcons held a slight, 1-0 lead heading into the half but Messiah tallied four goals in the second half to secure the 5-0 victory. 

How it Happened 

• Messiah sent 12 shots at the Alvernia net in the first 35 minutes of the first half and had three go on target but Alvernia's Brynn Bock saved all three to keep it tied at zero. 
• The Falcons grabbed the first goal of the game in the 38th minute of the contest when Thea Neimond assisted Kaitlyn Laird to make it 1-0 Falcons heading into the half. 
• Messiah came out of the half hot and netted three goals in the first five minutes of the second half to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Brittany Laird started things off in the 47th minute, then Addi Martin and Kristina Akselsen both netted goals in the 49th minute to make it a 4-0 game in favor of the Falcons. 
• Messiah added another in the 58th minute when Martin assisted Bella Touzeau to make it 5-0 Falcons. 
• Messiah sent 15 shots at the Alvernia goal in the final 30 minutes of the contest but only put one shot on goal as the Falcons secured the 5-0 victory over Alvernia

• Brynn Bock made nine saves in net for the Golden Wolves.
