Golden Wolves Fall to Eagles, 2-0

Reading, Pa (October 26, 2024) - Alvernia University (6-10-1, 1-4) dropped a MAC Commonwealth women's soccer matchup to Eastern University (10-5-3, 3-2) 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Alvernia. 

The Golden Wolves honored their 2024 senior class prior to the matchup with the Eagles. 

Eastern used two first half goals and held the Golden Wolves scoreless to secure the 2-0 victory. 

How it Happened
  • The Eagles opened up the scoring in the first ten minutes of the game after Paige Snell found the head of Nicole Eveland off of a corner, Eveland then put the ball into the back of the net off her header to make it a 1-0 game in favor of the Eagles. 
  • Eastern doubled the lead in the 27th minute of the first half after Mia Zucker found the back of the net after an assist from Billinda Leisner to make it 2-0 Eagles. 
  • The Golden Wolves put two shots at the Eastern net and Madison Rotiske hit the woodwork but were unable to find the back of the net as the Eagles took a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break. 
  • Alvernia sent six shots at the Eagles goal in the second half with three of them going on goal but Eastern's Faith Leake saved all three to deny the Golden Wolves and secure the 2-0 victory for the Eagles.
