Alvernia Opens 2024-25 Season with 40-10 Win over Camden County

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2024) - Alvernia Men's Wrestling started the 2024-25 season with a 40-10 win over Camden County College on Friday night at the Plex.

Alvernia trailed 6-3 early, but had a run of six straight wins to put the match out of reach for Camden.

Robert Philpot got things started for the Golden Wolves with a 10-4 decision at 125 lbs. Alvernia was pinned late in the 133 lb bout, but responded with back-to-back win by falls from Garrett Gehr and Aiden Swann.

Jason Rezac then took a 12-3 major decision to make it a 19-6 match in favor of the Golden Wolves. Alvernia then had three straight technical falls from Ryan LePore, William Knapp, and Hayden McLellan to take a 34-6 lead on Camden.

Alvernia gave four points back on a major decision loss at 197 lbs, but Brian Czaus closed things out for the Golden Wolves with a win by fall at heavyweight for the 40-10 win over Camden.

Alvernia is back in action tomorrow at the Plex for the Tonee Ellis Memorial Invitational beginning at 10:30 AM.
