Hart’s Hat Trick Powers Alvernia to 5-0 Win Over Anna Maria

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Ice Hockey (1-0) got its 2024-25 campaign started with a 5-0 win over Anna Maria College (0-1) on Friday afternoon at Body Zone.

The Golden Wolves scored with a goal in the 10th minute from first year Addy Gularte. The Golden Wolves scored another goal in the first period - this one from Emma Hart - and added three more in the third period for the 5-0 win.

Hart recorded a hat trick in her first collegiate game and became the seventh player in program history for the Golden Wolves with a hat trick.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia got off a few looks early before Gularte got the scoring going for the Golden Wolves in the 10th minute. Gularte fired a rocket from just inside the blue line off the assists of Shae Hudec and Gillian Evans.
  • Alvernia then made it a 2-0 game as the first period was coming to a close when Hart netted her first of the afternoon off a putback shot off her own rebound with just over 20 seconds to play in the period.
  • Both teams traded opportunities in the second period, but neither could break through. Anna Maria outshot Alvernia, 17-14, overall in the period, but Alvernia outshot the Amcats, 9-8, on goal. Alvernia's Julianna Rodgers had eight saves in the period to keep Anna Maria off the board.
  • The Golden Wolves came into the third period firing and took a 3-0 lead on a power-play goal from Riley Hill off the assists of Sydney Bradley and Gularte.
  • Alvernia kept it rolling as Hart netted her second a short-handed goal in the 12th minute.
  • Just over two minutes later, Hart completed the hat-trick and made it a 5-0 game with six minutes to play.
  • Alvernia possessed the puck most of the rest of the way as the Golden Wolves came away with the 5-0 win.
