Bears Run By Golden Wolves, 75-40

Collegeville, Pa. (Nov. 13, 2024) - Ursinus College (2-1) led 37-14 at the half and cruised to a 75-40 win over Alvernia University (0-2) on Wednesday night in non-conference women's basketball action at Ursinus.

The Bears led 17-4 through the first quarter and pushed it to a 23 point lead at the half. Ursinus then held at least a 23 point lead through the second half.

With the loss, Alvernia dropped to 0-2 on the young season while the Bears improved to 2-1.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia scored the opening points of the game on a putback layup from Kylie Bradford, and Alvernia led 4-2 on an Olivia Burke Jumper with 7:22 to play in the first quarter. But, Alvernia's shooting went cold from there as the Golden Wolves were held scoreless until 7:20 to play in the second quarter when a putback jumper from Jennah DeGout put an end to Alvernia's scoreless drought.
  • The Golden Wolves struggled to find their rhythm from there. Alvernia was held to layups from Burke and Jordyn Ingelido, a few made free throws as Ursinus took a 37-14 lead into the break.
  • The Bears didn't slow down coming out of the break and knocked down an opening 3-pointer to open the half and push their lead to 26, 40-14.
  • An Ingelido 3-pointer with 5:52 to play in the third quarter marked Alvernia's first field goal of the half. DeGout then dropped a layup and Burke hit a 3-pointer off a steal from Ryleigh Poole to bring Alvernia back within 23, 47-24, with 2:38 to play in the third.
  • Ursinus closed out the third quarter on a 14-5 run to take a 61-29 lead into the final frame.
  • Alvernia never threatened in the fourth as the Bears outscored the Golden Wolves 14-11 in the final ten minutes to take the 75-40 win.
