Three Golden Wolves Earn All-MAC Honors

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2024) - Three members of the Alvernia University Football Team earned All-MAC honors for their performances during the 2024 season, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Tuesday.

Dachan Thompson earned First Team All-MAC honors as a Wide Receiver. Delva Jean-Baptiste earned Second Team All-MAC honors as a defensive lineman, and Zach Ayers earned Second Team All-MAC honors as a returner.

Thompson, a senior, led Alvernia with 702 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. He finished the season averaging 70.2 receiving yards per game and 13.5 yards per reception. Thompson had three games with over 100 receiving yards and he scored in eight of Alvernia's ten games this season. Thompson's nine touchdowns ranked him second in the MAC. He was third in the conference in yards per game and total yards, and second with 5.2 receptions per game and 52 total receptions. Thompson set a new program with his 52 receptions this season. This is Thomposn's second All-MAC honor. He also earned First Team honors in 2023.

Jean-Baptiste, a senior, had a career-year to wrap up his time at Alvernia. Jean-Baptiste finished the season with 45 tackles, and he led the Golden Wolves with 11.5 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks. His 11.5 tackles for a loss were the most in a season for Alvernia since 2019, his 6.5 sacks tied the single-season record for Alvernia. Jean-Baptiste 11.5 tackles for a loss ranked him fifth in the MAC, and he was sixth in the conference with his 6.5 sacks. This is Jean-Baptiste's first All-MAC honor.

Ayers, a sophomore wide receiver, finished the season as the MAC leader with 872 kickoff return yards. Ayers' 872 kickoff return yards also ranked him third in the nation. Ayers averaged 22.95 kickoff return yards per return attempt, and he had a season-long return of 58 yards in the season-finale against Misericordia on Saturday. Ayers also led the MAC in all-purpose yards per game with 115.7 all-purpose yards per game. This is Ayers' first All-MAC honor.

Russell Minor-Shaw, a quarterback for King's College, was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, and Jacquez Mabin, a defensive lineman for Delaware Valley, was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year. Dillon Johnson, a first-year wide receiver for Stevenson, was named MAC Rookie of the Year, and Mike Cebrosky of King's was named Coach of the Year.
